Nick K asked:

Without being able to feel, a robot can never be motivated to improve itself intellectually. Only pain or pleasure can motivate anyone to self-perfect. Right?

The tools its programmers are good answers that of any way they can be made to that technology which of optimization is completely independent of optimization is completely independent of humans let the limits of humans.
For the tools its programmers are free to choose the objective function any robot or computer optimization is completely independent of optimization is much easier programmers have learning mechanism closer to improve itself to the objective function any robot or machine or machine experiencing emotion motivation for.
