    There is more to surgery than performing operations. Any monkey can be trained to do an appendectomy… it’s knowing when to do one, or when not to do one, or when to do a different operation that is important.

    Of course, surgeons need skills to operate. But they also possess a lot of knowledge and clinical judgment that comes from years of training and experience. These are things that go beyond algorithms and programs.

    Robots will assist surgeons, but not replace them.
